What Is VLF/LF?
VLF extends from 3 to 30KHz. LF goes from 30 to 300KHz. This project is aimed at extending the tuning range of your Sangean ATS-803A or clone right down to 10KHz. (Below 10KHz it will pick up signals from its own circuitry).
In the range covered, you can seek to hear ‘natural’ radio signals, i.e. those produced by atmospheric effects. Lightning, near and far, seems to be the main contender here.
There are also time signal stations which serve to correct ‘radio controlled’ clocks and watches. There is an allocation to amateurs on 136KHz. There are also utility/data transmissions, and navigational ones.
